Stage 4 of breast cancer means cancer has gone over to other parts of the body. Breast cancer may spread to lungs, brain, liver or bones. Metastatic breast cancer cannot be cured, just can be treated with vigorous systematic therapy. Cancer spreads and includes different parts of the body, so it demands a combination of therapies so that tumor growth and other symptoms could be controlled.

Treatment

Any type of breast cancer treatment depends on how advanced is the breast cancer is, chemotherapy generally prescribed with the combination of radiation and hormone therapy. One more option comes as targeted therapy, which works directly on the protein, main reason for the growth of cancer cells. If cancer has reached to lymph nodes, a patient may notice swelling or enlargement of nodes. For the treatment of Lymph nodes surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation could be used.

Surgical options may vary, on the number and location of a tumor. Surgery is not the just first thing for defense, but doctor may recommend surgery for spinal cord compression, broken bones, and others.  It remains helpful to decrease pain and others. Antidepressants, Anticonvulsants, Steroids and local anesthetics could be prescribed for the treatment of advanced stage breast cancer. Other drugs used to treat advanced-stage breast cancer include antidepressants, anticonvulsants, steroids, and local anesthetics.
